Quoted from the Adelaide Tweet Blog:

A good time was had by all at #CommsAdelaide yesterday evening at the @HotelTivoli. There was lots of chatter about the positive impact that social media is having in #Adelaide, productive sharing of ideas and, of course, plenty of laughs! Can’t wait for next tweetup in 2010! Well done @PPRAdelaide!

Great to see another Tweetup being organised in Adelaide! You too can create one with any focus and we will help you spread the word and get attendees – we can even help you find a venue.

Stay tuned for news on the upcoming Adelaide Geek Dinners to be held at various locations around Adelaide starting in January! The event is a dinner held every few months for “geeks” – that is, if you love technology, gadgets, social media, the internet, photography, gaming, anything you think defines you as a geek. Come along for an intelligent chat over a nice mid-week dinner. Bookings will be required for these events so keep listening out for more information. The first one should be in mid-late January so you have plenty of time to recover from 2009!

Cupcake Camp Adelaide is just over a week away now and our bakers are busy getting together their ingredients to start the marathon next week! If you haven’t heard about it, Cupcake Camp Adelaide is an afternoon of eating cupcakes to raise money for charity. Volunteers bake cupcakes to sell at the event – you can bake too, or just go along to enjoy them! They still need more people to bring along cupcakes and also some other supplies donated, and if you can help please let them know at their website.

Preparations for BarCamp Adelaide 2010 are now underway and with thanks to CodeFire, they have a venue from the beginning! If you’re interested in programming, new technology, future trends, the internet, social networking, gaming, and anything techy, you should take a look at BarCamp Adelaide. The last one in February 2009 had over 30 attendees for a day of fun networking and exciting conversation – and cupcakes for dessert!

Finally ATUB November is coming up on Friday November 27 – and we’d love your thoughts on a venue! Please try to keep it in the CBD for this one as it is most likely going to be the last official one from the year! It runs from 6pm until whenever the last person leaves. The last ATUB we had at Pancake Kitchen in September had over 25 people attend! Leave a comment with your ideas and thoughts and hopefully we’ll see all you tweeters there!

Hotel Tivoli

From the Hotel Tivoli website (http://www.hoteltivoli.com.au)

On behalf of the Adelaide Communications twitter users, PPR Adelaide has organised a tweetup for Journos / PR and other Comms people in the industry to network and have a chat.

If you’re interested, you should RSVP straight away to @PPRAdelaide – the event is on tomorrow night (Tuesday November 10) from 5-7pm at the recently renovated (and now very stylish) Hotel Tivoli (@Hotel_Tivoli) on 265 Pirie Street in the city.

We can’t wait to hear how it goes!

Hi Adelaide Tweeters!

Time has gotten away from us all this month and as a result we have decided that there will be no official ATUB for October. However we would like to remind you that it’s not just  up to us – you can all organise ATUB events and we are happy to get the news out there and promote them for you.

You can:

Send an @ reply to ATUB that can be retweeted
DM ATUB the details

And let us know if you’d like the event included on the calendar and as a blog post. We’d love to see more Adelaide Twitter events! They don’t even have to be Twitter based, but if you want to get the word out about your event let us know.

The next scheduled ATUB is at the very end of November. November has lots of Adelaide events in store, look out for the November events blog post next week!

Already time is slipping away from us and it’s almost halfway through October – this means there’s another ATUB coming up soon!

Here’s some photos from the last event at the Pancake Kitchen on September 25th:

The next ATUB is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, so keep your eyes and ears open for news! If you have any suggestions for a venue, theme or your own ATUB event that you’d like us to put the shoutout about (or even if you’d like to organise one and need some help) feel free to comment on this post, or send a DM or @ reply to @ATUB.

See you at the next event!

Site Features

The new version of this website has some cool features you might want to know about:

Members Directory
Everyone who signs up will be added into a members directory so we can start to find more Adelaide people who use Twitter!

Forums
The forums are an addition to the regular blog posts so users can share services/ideas and suggestions for events and meetups. They’re also a way for you to get to know your fellow Twitter users a little better without the 140 character restrictions (and the possibility of spamming other people on your feeds!)

Events Calendar
Taken directly from a Google Calendar, this plugin displays the calendar events in the sidebar and also on a dedicated events page. Anyone can request an Adelaide event be added to the calendar, they don’t just have to be ATUB monthly meetups. You can also subscribe to the calendar if you’d like to add it into your Google Calendar – and also if you want access to contribute this can too be arranged.

Got any suggestions or feedback? Leave some comments or @reply to ATUB!

Welcome to the new Adelaide Tweeters website!

It has had a complete facelift and also a lot of new features added. You will notice there is now a members directory, an events calendar and a forum.

You can register as a site user by clicking here. This will give you access to update your profile and participate in the forums!
If you register with your twitter name (as there shouldn’t be anyone else that will have it ;) ) it will be easier for other Adelaide users to find and follow you on Twitter.

If you think there should be anything else that we have forgotten please comment on this post and let us know. :)

We look forward to your participation and thanks for joining!
